So imagine you need to take a flight, you arrive at the airport, check your luggage, make your way to the gate and board the plane. Once seated, your friend looks out the window and sees the baggage handlers throwing your luggage around like footballs. Upsetting, am I right?
Well this is exactly what happened to a musician named Dave Carroll, who was traveling on United Airlines from Chicago to Nebraska with his band. His bass player looked out the window and saw handlers throwing their bags recklessly. When Dave inspected his guitar (valued at $3,500), he noticed it was damaged and wanted United to compensate him for it. Dave tells his United Airlines story on his website, detailing his frustration of United employees who passed the buck on and on and on.
After months of back and forth, United Airlines would not compensate Dave, so he told United he would write three songs about his struggle, make videos for them, and the rest is history. His song United Breaks Guitars has gone on to be a viral hit and has caused United Airlines a big public relations headache!
