Why do businesses insist on pushing their products into marketplaces that they shouldn’t be in?Eggo Real Fruit Pizza just seems like such a far cry from what everyone associates with the Eggo brand. It’s right in line with Domino’s gross Oreo pizza (see video below). Please stop trying to sell consumers products that your marketing departments think will work.

Many homeless people around a particular San Francisco McDonalds franchise say the dollar menu was raised $0.50 so they would spend less time there. I guess the cops get called a lot and the bathroom situation is a disaster. The franchise owner says the move was to make money.
Would you have done the the same thing if the homeless were always around your store?

We all know what we’re getting into when we go for fast food. It’s cheap, quick and tastes reasonably good every time. I’d like to think places like Subway and Quiznos are a step up from McDonald’s and Burger King, but this story from The Consumerist really makes you wonder. The sandwich their reader ordered is such a far cry from the advertisement it’s just as funny as it is sad.
We’ve all been in this situation. We wonder why the fast food advertisements are so different from what is actually served. But we all know the answer – it’s advertising! It doesn’t help that these fast food chains pay wages that yield this kind of service. I can imagine it’s pretty hard to care how close the meal you’re making resembles the advertisement’s image when you’re paid so low.

A McDonald’s hamburger is one durable piece of food. Martyn Poliakoff, a University of Nottingham chemistry professor decided to see what would happen when the hamburger was dipped in hydrochloric acid for 3.5 hours. Hydrochloric acid can be found in everyone’s stomach and is used by the human body to digest food for use as energy. The result of this experiment does not yield a whole lot of deterioration. This is only one video in Nottingham’s Periodic Table of Videos series on YouTube.

If you were producing an advertising campaign for a major subway system like Boston’s MBTA, you might want to spell things correctly. Case in point, check out this Vermont advertisement that can be seen on the MBTA’s Green Line. Last we checked, the word is spelled C-l-e-v-e-l-a-n-d. Not sure who is at fault, Vermont’s advertising agency or Titan Outdoor, who is MBTA’s outdoor advertising handler.
Also, anyone in Boston can see that the “last stop” the ad actually depicts is the Lechmere stop, not the Cleveland Circle stop.
Guess they skipped that whole proofreading thing.
Thanks to @jennycmcclary for the find!

Karen Hanrahan has kept a McDonald’s burger in her freezer on-and-off since 1996 to prove a point (which most of us already know). McDonald’s is not good for you. Look how closely a 12 year old McDonald’s burger resembles a 2008 burger.
Chemical Food. Gross.
Karen uses her elderly burger as a prop in a class she teaches entitled Healthy Choices for Children. She says that the flecks seen on the burger are from the bun. The meat itself is beginning to crumble and fall apart and the smell of it is awkward as hell.
