Unbeknownst to me, there is a large movement to redesign the US dollar. A favorite of mine and others is the Dowling Duncan effort which uses a vertical orientation. Why vertical? Most people deal with money in a vertical sense. The width of Duncan’s notes are the same as the existing US dollar, but the lengths vary across values, with the $100 dollar bill being longest. If you have a bunch of bills in your heand, you can easily sort by denomination. His themes are also awesome:

It really sucks if you’re a Chase customer and wanted to do some online banking today. Since 9:00AM, the website has had a temporary image where users would typically log in. I can understand some downtime for websites, but all day long on a business day? We wonder if they will give an explanation on the long downtime. It’s 6:48PM EST and counting…

Update on Chase
It’s now 10:32PM EST and Chase’s online banking is still down! Maybe tomorrow will be a better day for Chase.

Bank of America doesn’t mess around with their check-cashing policy as Steve Valdez found out at a Tampa, Florida Bank of America branch. Steve tried to cash a check that was drawn on his wife’s account and he provided two forms of photo identification. The Bank of America supervisor told Steve since he could not provide a thumbprint, he would need to bring his wife to the bank or open an account.
